Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, the third GBA game in the series, was released in May 2003 but takes place in 2035. Soma Cruz, a high school exchange student in Japan, visits a shrine to observe a solar eclipse, and is suddenly transported to Dracula's castle along with others. Gameplay is similar to Symphony of the Night, with equipable swords, and RPG-style leveling up, but adds enemy souls as the magic.
