NDS《钢铁大师》是一款让玩家扮演武器工匠去经营武器商店的经营类策略角色扮演游戏，身为武器工匠需要在大陆上一边游历一边制作贩卖用的武器，从而扩大武器店的业绩，另外还有如“拯救王国的危机”这一类的丰富故事内容。
制造武器的材料除了在市场上购买外，还需要玩家雇佣佣兵前往各地搜集，另外佣兵还能保护玩家在大陆旅途上免受袭击，佣兵们包括战士、弓手、骑士各种各样的职业，他们有着各自擅长的地方，每个佣兵都具备等级系统，派遣等级高的佣兵会花费较高的金额，而派遣低级的佣兵又容易导致任务失败，如何平衡是游戏的攻略重点。
