Is Harmony of Despair A New Castlevania Adventure?
By Michael McWhertor . April 16, 2010 . 3:40pm
While developer Mercury Steam and Hideo Kojima whip up an all-new Castlevania console adventure in Lords of Shadow, what is the core Castlevania team up to? Maybe Castlevania: Harmony of Despair?
A new trademark filing for Harmony of Despair was spotted by Siliconera at the European trademark commission, submitted by Konami Digital Entertainment for the standard video game stuff—"Video game software; video game programs; computer game software; computer game programs; electronic game programs."
Harmony of Despair sure sounds like one of those "Metroidvania" style Castlevania games, which have run with titles like Aria of Sorrow, Symphony of the Night and Portrait of Ruin. We've already had a Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, but it's been nearly eight years since that Game Boy Advance game. Maybe we're due for a sequel?
The last Castlevania game in that line of side-scrolling adventures was 2008's Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. I'd say we're due, but certainly not confirmed.
Harmony Of Despair? That Sure Sounds Like A Castlevania Game

Konami may be orchestrating two Castlevania games, Castlevania: Lord of Shadow and Castlevania: Harmony of Despair.
The second title has not been announced, but Konami trademarked Harmony of Despair in Europe. And Harmony of Despair follows the post Rondo of Blood naming formula of “something (possibly musical) of something else.”
Candidly speaking, this is just a guess at what Harmony of Despair could be, but the Nintendo DS seems due for another Castlevania game. Order of Ecclesia, which was also coincidentally discovered via a trademark a few months before E3, came out two years ago.
